Printcolor 382

Series 382 Screen Printing Ink

Printcolor 382 is a one component screen printing ink for PVCs and plastics.

Upgrade to Printcolor high performance Series 382 if you are using Sericol “Sericard CD”, Marabu “Maraflex FX”, or Rucco 31 VC

The official technical stuff from Printcolor
Series 382 was developed specifically for printing on PVC substrates used in the plastic laminating (eg. credit cards) and welding manufacturing processes. The bonding resins of 382 are formulate against discolouration during lamination and welding processes.

It is also suitable for a wide range of substrates such as rigid and flexible PVC, PVC adhesion foils, coated polyester, papers and coated surfaces. Formulated as a single component ink, Series 382 can be used with Printcolor hardeners HDA or HDR where greater mechanical, chemical or UV and outdoor resistances are required. Refer to the Technical Information and Series 382 MSDS documents for more details.

What we say about Printcolor 382
Series 382 is highly suited to most point-of-sale and industrial uses on labels and stickers, sign printing, and applications in the security area for the production of identity cards, credit and telephone cards for example.  The binder composition allows a laminating or welding under high temperature without destroying the ink layer or colour. Care should be taken with use on self adhesive foils or outdoor applications because of the plasticisers in the material. As the material ages and shows fluctuations in different areas, the ink-substrate bond may be adversely affected – you should carry out your own tests to determine suitability for use on long-term projects under local conditions.

The quality of raw materials used in formulating Series 382, together with the recommended hardener (HDA or HDR) make it suitable external use or where greater mechanical and chemical resistance is required.

Hardener: 382 is a one component ink – can add 10:1 HDa hardener to increase mechanical/chemical/UV resistances. Hardener will pot life.
Thinner: 017 thinner – addition ratio 10 – 20% by weight
Retarder: 018 thinner – addition ratio 10 – 20% by weight
Mesh: 77-55 Y PW PET 1000 up to 120-34 Y PW PET 1000 (max. 43-80 Y PW PET 1000)

The good oil from our trade print room

  • Printcolor 382 is a fantastic screen ink as it gives excellent adhesion and is fast drying for easy product handling.
  • It has a very thick, elastic-like consistency straight out of the can and may take a little more thinning than other ink Series. Mix through small amounts of thinner at a time, it will reach print consistency more quickly than you may think and will go watery if you over do it.
  • Printcolor 382 runs well with your standard medium thinner (017). A pretty straight forward to use but like all fast inks, it can develop static/stringing around the print if you run it too thick.
  • It is a single component ink which is convenient as it gives you unlimited pot life.

Series 567 “Universal”

Printcolor 650

Series 650 Screen Printing Ink

Printcolor 650 is a one or two component universal screen printing ink for graphic and industrial applications.

Upgrade to Printcolor high performance Series 650 if you are using Sericol Polyscreen PS, Marabu Marapol PY, or Coates YN.

The official technical stuff from Printcolor
Printcolor 650 is a highly opaque, glossy screen printing ink based on extremely resistant basic raw materials for printing of various plastics, coatings, metals as well as Duroplasts. Series 650 has been formulated for hard wearing industrial applications and, when used in conjunction with relevant hardeners to increase chemical, mechanical and weather resistance, (i.e. Series HDA / HDS) will also give excellent long term outdoor performance.

Printcolor 650 is suitable for many substrates including soft and rigid PVC, pretreated polypropylene and polyethylene, coated polyester, PET-G, cellulose acetate, CAB, Polyolefin, coated or pre-treated polycarbonate, PMMA (pre-test), metals, aluminum (raw, anodized), composites (Alucobond, Dibond, Vekaplan VL).  Refer to the Technical Information and Series 650 MSDS documents for more details.

What we say about Printcolor 650
Printcolor 650 is a versatile screen ink that performs well on a variety of substrates.   It is a great work-horse for trade screen printers because it has such a wide adhesion range on common plastics, and it does a great job on aluminium surfaces too.  Series 650 is a very stable ink in the press that rarely gives trouble, having a good pot-life of between 6-8 hours (depending on colour and conditions).  We find 650 a great ink for multi colour work as it mixes well with thinners and retarders, giving you excellent control of ink consistency/speed on each station and making it easier to keep all your screens open and printing cleanly.

Hardener: addition ratio of 5:1 HDa hardener or HDi hardener and up to 20% (ratio 4:1) for demanding applications)
Thinner: 017 thinner – addition ratio 10 – 15% by weight
Retarder: 018 thinner – addition ratio 10 – 15% by weight
Mesh: 77-55 Y PW PET 1000 up to 120-34 Y PW PET 1000

Printcolor 017 thinner

Thinners – 017 Medium

Printcolor 017 is a medium speed universal thinner for pad print inks.

The official technical stuff from Printcolor
Printcolor 017 thinner is formulated to maintain optimum ink rheology under varying printing conditions created by in-line processes and the sometimes intermittent working of technical screen machinery. Printcolor 017 is a universal thinner suitable for use in all solvent screen print inks. Add at a ratio of 10 – 20% by weight to attain the ideal ink viscosity and print transfer under production conditions.

The medium evaporative speed of 017 thinner is designed to balance drying times while maintaining open screens in multi colour machines or print cycles with longer processing times. The solvent composition of Printcolor 017 thinner is chosen to minimise chemical attack on squeegee blades. ts gentle wear on urethane blades will extend squeegee life and performance.  Refer to the Technical Information and 017 MSDS documents for more details.

What we say about Printcolor 017 thinner
It is not a paint thinner, nor its it a screen ink thinner. Printcolor 017 thinner is specifically formulated to thin ink used in screen printing applications. Printcolor 017 thinner is Quality Assured to ISO 9002 Standards and offers the best value for money on the market.

Printcolor 017 has been developed for universal use with all 300 /600 Series screen inks. The unique mixture of solvents in 017 will help maintain ink consistency over long runs and throughout jobs having slow printing cycles and/or frequent stoppages. The medium evaporative speed of 017 ensures good ink viscosity while retaining print transfer speeds.

Printcolor 017 is a popular thinner because it works well across the range of 300 / 600 Series inks. It gives consistent performance and can be mixed with retarder (see Printcolor 018 medium and 10-03432 slow retarders) to optimise print transfer speed and open screens.

Available in 1L and 5L DG approved plastic jerry containers and 20L drums with screw tap threads.

The good oil from our trade print room

  • Using the correct speed thinner is important. Use one that’s too fast for your application and you’ll be continuously stopping to adjust the ink and open up your screens. Use a thinner too slow for the job and you’ll have to slow down the cycle speed and/or use flash curing between colours. Neither will result in consistently good prints and both will slow productivity.
  • Using super cheap thinner is like frying steak in water; you will cook it but you won’t want to eat it! Printcolor thinner is not expensive, we’ve made sure of that. Buy a litre, try it and see what a difference it makes to your print quality, job set-up times, productivity and general level of happiness in your print room.
